Books By Mail (and a Halloween Reading List)

This is an awfully belated post, readers, but you’ve probably noticed by now that most of my posts are! Anyway, on this Monday, a formidable package arrived at our doorstep. It was a shipment of books from Dover Publications! Most of it was homeschooling stuff for my mom/teacher, but I got three books:

Dracula by Bram Stoker; A classic I’ve wanted to read since I got into the Twilight Saga.
The Gold-Bug and Other Tales by Edgar Allan Poe; I’ll need this for homeschool, but I still personally requested it. I’ve gotten really into Poe since I read some of his poetry.
Homer’s Odyssey; Again, necessary for my education, but I wanted to read it after my Greek mythology phase.

It’s not such a formidable list, but it’s always nice to get a package, especially if it contains books! Also, I know I mentioned earlier that the books were from Dover Publications. I hate to indorse a brand, but here’s an honest tip, bookworm to bookworm: The division of Dover called Dover Thrift Editions makes paperback copies of classics that they sell for as little as $2.00. Even though you can’t get any new, popular books, the quality and prices are amazing!

And now to address the second part of the title of this post, the Halloween reading list, that is. I believe I’ve mentioned earlier that Halloween is, in my opinion, the very best part of autumn, which is my favorite season.To help me get into the mood, I like to read some great, creepy novels and ghost stories. I’ve been putting a reading list together in advance ~ Giving myself a reading challenge, so to speak. In case you’re interested, or would like to join me in my reading/reviewing quest, I’ll write here what I’ve come up with so far. I hope to read at least half of these selections in the week(s) leading up to Halloween itself.
